Detailed description

The easy35 v1 35mm Slide Holder replaces the standard holder for the easy35 v1, allowing you to scan 50×50mm standard mounted 35mm slides.

  • Quick scanning enabled by push-through design
  • Ease of use with custom leaf spring locating mechanism
  • Precision with automatic slide positioning
  • Compatible with most slides on the market*
  • Scan up to 4mm thick slides

The easy35 v1 35mm Slide Holder has two internal custom-made leaf springs pressing the slide downwards. This forces the slide into a locating area in the middle, ensuring consistent placement of the slide. Scanning slides is therefore as easy inserting one slide, capturing it, then pushing the first out with the second slide as you insert it.

You can find a demonstration of using it on YouTube by searching for "The Slide Holder is here! Scan your slides faster than ever | VALOI easy35 v1" from VALOI.

Mount Compatibility

The easy35 v1 35mm Slide Holder is compatible with most standard mounted 35mm slides on the market - however, we cannot guarantee that it will work with all mounts ever made as there is an extremely wide range. Particularly damaged or fragile cardboard slides can jam or be damaged in the holder.

Mounted slides made from plastic and between 1.5mm and 4mm thick will suit the device very well, and slides made from strong card are usually not a problem.

Device Compatibility

It is only compatible with easy35 v1 units. The holder is conveniently replaced by releasing a single screw screw and pushing the original holder out, and the new one in.

This holder is not compatible with the VALOI studio360 system, easy120 system, or easy35 v2.

Frequently asked questions

What do I need to scan my film with VALOI?

  • A digital camera with an interchangeable lens system.
  • A macro lens.
  • For negative films a RAW image processing software and a conversion software to invert the negative. For positives (slides) a RAW image processing software is sufficient.

Which VALOI holder should I choose for my film format?

Choose the holder that matches your film format. For 35mm film, use the 35mm holder, or the 35mm Sprocket holder if you want to include the sprocket holes. For medium format, the 6x9 holder accepts all frame sizes from 6x4.5 to 6x9, but we recommend the holder that matches your frame size. Each kit’s "In the box" list shows which holders are included.

Does VALOI work with medium format film?

Yes, VALOI easy120 and studio360 both support medium format film up to 6x9. Larger formats like 6x12 or 6x17 will work but will need to be stitched digitally for the final image.

Can I scan (mounted) slide film or only negatives?

It’s possible to scan mounted slides up to 4mm thickness, each system has a holder for scanning mounted slides. Scanning strips or rolls of slide film is no different from scanning negatives.

How high is the resolution when scanning with a camera?

The resolution of the scan depends on the digital camera you use.

What software should I use to convert my negatives?

A RAW image processor like paid programs such as Adobe Lightroom, Capture One or free software like Affinity, for simple conversions. For automated conversions: standalone software like SmartConvert and FilmLab, or a plug-in like Negative Lab Pro (needs Adobe Lightroom).
